Our FZ5 won't turn on, even fully charged batteries. Nothing happens at all. Anyone ever have this problem and, more importantly, a solution?

A problem like this is virtually impossible to sort out without physically checking out the cam. Your local camera store technician might quote you something like $50 to have a look at it, but then — assuming that they do find the problem — it may be worth more to fix it than buy a new but similarly-featured current model.

One thing I always do in cases such as this is to check out the battery with a multimeter — both its voltage and its current drain.

Cheers :)

I dont have a fz5, but I have a tz4. I had a problem where the zoom lens would not come out, so I had to turn the knob on the lens to get it out when I turned the camera on, now its fine. It was just stuck or something. This sounds different from what you are saying though. If the camera won't turn on at all period even if your batteries are fully charged, something else may be wrong. Did it just happen out of no where? did you ever drop the camera or any water ever got in it?
