I bike alot and my backpack works great to hold my camera. What I am looking fo now is tho if it exists something I can keep my slr in front of me at all times without swinging around while I bike and being protected. I want to shoot while riding but dont want to leave my camera exsposed any ideas?

If, you're shooting while biking, some part of it has to be exposed to some extend.

BodyArmor might help protect it from a thump while still being exposed, other then that make yourself some custom foam cutouts or something...

Then theres the whole, Don't shoot WHILE biking because you will get into an accident yourself.

One thing you could consider is chest-harness mounted camera bag. I know a few of the Lowepro TLZ series bags have them built in or if your backback has a sternum compression strap you can mount a top-loading style bag to that, as long as the strap is sturdy enough.

This would keep your camera quite safe from vibration, dust, dirt, etc, but still allow fairly quick access.

Edit: This is the Lowepro chest harness I was speaking of: http://products.lowepro.com/product/Topload-Zoom-Chest-Harness,2054,32.htm

Here is a link to a flickr stream that features a strangely bizzare 'body mount support sytem' Don't think it would work for biking but check it out.

Yeah im not too worried about crashing, if it happens it happens.

That chest strap thing would prolly work actually. I believe the local camera shop going out of buissness has one for 5 bucks im going to go look at!

You're actually going to take pictures while the bike is moving? Seems like it'd be impossible to compose an image and hold the camera still.

Yes and no. i will take some moving nto at high speed tho. the others will be mainly stopping shooting a shot real quick and peddling. fiddiling with a backpack is difficult at times

Gah, that looks like someone took the brace I wore when I cracked some vertebrae and epoxied some Manfrotto quick release plates to it.

Is the umbrella for a sun shade or for taking pics in the rain? For 5 bucks shoey if it's the same thing you GOT to buy it and get photos of you using it!
