Hi, I am having a problem with me camera. When I go to turn it on with freshly recharged batteries it just makes clicking sounds. Does any body have an idea of what this portends? I have had the camera for about 5 years and it was used when I bought it. Maybe it is just old and dying. Any help/suggestions would be great. Jason

My first response is to suggest a malfunctioning drive motor, or a jammed lens barrel element, or a bit of either.

And yes, at around 7 years this is an old camera, and possibly a tired one too! Although, having said that, for the time it was a pretty impressively specced camera for around $1000. Good user features, lovely lens, 1/2.3" sensor, and... RAW. Possibly its only currently-judged disadvantages would be its (relatively) low max ISO800 and its tiny LCD.

Therefore, I'd be tending to think about spending $50(?) and getting a reputable camera technician to check it out. I wouldn't normally recommend spending money on fixing such an old camera, but in this case, and as it's Japanese-made, I'll suggest a grease 'n' oil change and a new set o' plugs!

Cheers :)
