well, the 35mm f/2 hasn't been in stock at b&h for as long as i've been watching for it...and today i get an email saying they have it in stock..only to find out it jumped up to $299 from (i think) $240. kinda frustrating.

the first thing i thought was maybe it was updated to a II version...but it doesn't seem like that's the case.
this is VERY frustrating for me since i can't even afford the crap i buy as it is..and now it's getting even more expensive.
what do you guys think?

Wow...
I'm looking at all the prices in general and they seem to have gone up. I remember the 24-70 used to be 1190 but now its up to $1293. The 50 1.4 went from 314 to almost 400.
I'm glad I got most of the lenses I need already :(

Those seem like 10% jumps in prices. That's sucks!!
I doubt its got anything to do with currency fluctuations cause the Yen isn't really going up right now from what I remember....very odd!!!

ahhh, shut yer mouth. Just be glad you don't live here where that lens is $450 plus 14% tax on top of that! I know, I know, the cost for this stuff will vary depending on country but come on, the american dollar is crap right now and they say the Canadian and US dollar will soon be on par... so why am I paying such a freaking premium for photo stuff? Okay I feel better now... ya you are right increasing prices suck, especially when your pay stays the same... hey, at least we still have a job right?!

Canon Canada probably buys it from Canon USA, instead of direct from Japan.
The 35 f/2 is selling for $409 plus 12% @ Broadway Cameras in Vancouver.
I think I paid $350 or something like that back a few years.

Yea, I should have bought a used one at KEH a month ago. Prices have really spiked recently, even the used prices have gone up!
