Hello,

I have on my EOS300 a 28-300 asperical lens from 1999 which works good for me. Now I think about buying a digital SLR, can I use this old lens on any Canon digital SLR (besides the crop factor)? I want to buy second hand, so any older Canon with reasonable picture quality would also do it - any recommendation?

the EOS300 uses the EF mount according to wikipedia, so most probably your lens would work.

28-300 seems like a third party lens, maybe sigma ? tamron? If its not a true Canon EF lens, there MIGHT be issues. You would have to try it out and see.

The 28-300 is a Tamron lens.

Had it been a Nikon I'd say for sure it works. I'm not familiar with Canon but I guess it should work too. Given the crop factor, you are likely to buy a new standard wide angle for digital anyway so I'd suggest you will find out yourself once you get the body.
