Hi Guys n Girls

Using the Panasonic FZ50 and lately when looking through the lcd screen the colour on the screen seem wrong. The have a purple tinge to them. This tinge is then transfering itself to the actual photograph. Anybody got any idea if the camera is broke or whether there is something in the settings I have changed.

The strange thing is the sometimes if you move the camera suddenly the screen will revert to normal for a brief second.

Would be grateful for any advice you may have to offer.

Thanks in advance

Darryl

Looks to me as though there's something drastically wrong with the camera's sensor or its circuitry (as this abnormality is being reproduced on your finished images as well).

There's certainly no "settings" on the camera that could cause this.

The fact that you can knock it back into go mode suggests that it could be as simple as a "dry" joint or a broken track on a PCB, or some other mechanical problem within the circuitry (not its physical controls).

At 3 years of age, it's gonna be a tossup for you as to whether or not it's worth getting a camera repair guy to check it out. They might charge you fifty bucks or more just to tell you it can't be fixed! Then again, it could be a 5-minute job to fix.

Dunno... sorry. :(

the image u have put up here is not "purple fringe", but it is all purple all over!,
would u post some more (reduced size images) , some in strong light, and some in low light, for a bttr idea of the technical problem.

did u by any chance connect an external flash to the cam, recently?

can u post a shot with LCD disp off, i.e only using the viewfinder.

Hey there Darryl...

If you can possibly remove (edit) this ginormous 4.5MB image and replace it with (say) an 800 x 600 pix image, you might get a few more responses.

It's just that it can take loads of time for someone with a slow connection to download it at its current size, and they probably give up waiting!

Cheers :)
