Dion is an aspiring actor and model. Did this shoot for www.ondisplaymenagency.com

Never took the 85 f/1.8 off the 5d Mk II. i think i'm gonna start calling in my 85 f1.8l (lowercase L).

the "studio" shots all shot with my fotodiox 600 w/s using the model lamps only. Decided I wanted to go hardcore on the bokeh, so all shots with ambient and reflectors.

1. Natural light and reflector
ISO 50 f/2 1/2000s

2. 1 model lamp w/ shoot through, 1 behind with beauty dish, reflector below
ISO 1600 f/2 1/320s....the backdrop was just a wall blurred by the bokeh.

3. same setup as #2

4. pretty much same setup as #2 and #3
ISO 1600 f/2 1/200s

5. shoot through in front camera left, beauty dish with grid behind him camera right.
ISO 1600 f/2 1/250s

6. Natural light in shade and sunlight reflected from far away for fill.
ISO 100 f/2 1/500s

7. Big Window directly behind him, shoot through umbrella and model lamp in front...and reflector.
ISO 800 f/2 1/160s

8. natural light and reflector for fill.

Nice work dude. Great processing too. Can you tone down the highlights in #1 and #6 though?

i could probably do some blending in photoshop with two exposures. i'd try to do it with the selective edit brush in lightroom, but it's a little more intricate than i feel like dealing with. they're shot raw. all of these processed with lightroom only. some brightening of eyes, quite a bit of the gradient tool used too.

Very nice. I've been trying to stay in LR more too. I'm almost exclusive at this point but I still need PS for my watermark/shameless self-promotion border thingy. And HighPass Sharpening.

Excellent series.

However; very few people have a flattering straigh-on shot. #2 reveals his crooked nose. Suggest to only select those with a non-symetrical tilt to left or right.

nice catch vich. i didn't even notice that.

check this one out. in his sunglasses you can kinda see me crouched in the reflection on his right lens and alan holding the reflector for me on his left lens. found this yesterday, thought it was pretty funny. anyway, you can pretty much tell how the light was set up on this one.

Really nice work Adam.

When I saw the first shot (which I love) I thought how the Hell did he get that kind of a snyc speed with those strobes?!! :D - really nice use of reflectors.

yes sir, i've really come to appreciate reflectors for that reason alone... f/2 @ 1/3000s!!!!!!! as much as i've been using the 85, i've been extremely tempted to save up for an 85L...maybe the old verson. i've been teetering on selling the 70-200, but that damn IS alone keeps changing my mind for me.
