Went to the Robert Frank exhibit today at the SF Museum of Modern Art. A lot of his stuff was shot with available light and 1600 ASA film. Very grainy. Often not too sharp. It was brilliant. And it was good to be reminded that "technically perfect" isn't always best.
I like the grainy look of fast B&W film, and I don't like the noise that digital cameras produce, so I've been playing with adding grain in PP. Here's my nephew and nieces, taken without a flash on a dark DC subway platform, and with some added grain.
