Quick edits from the Shoot I had with ProGrynd Int LLC yesterday.

Used my Phottix Triggers for the first time in a shoot. It was fun to use off camera flash even though the flash trigger rate was just 60% which I think was due to the industrial equipment interfering with the triggers.

C&C welcome as usual...

1) Flash triggered inside the machine

2) Flash placed on my right side...

+1. I also like the first one. A cool effect, but the flash is a little bit too bright.

i almost forgot how great my cybersyncs are til i read about your firing rate. lately i don't think i've appreciated them as much as i should. maybe i'll take them to dinner and a movie later.

i used to get sooooo frustrated with my cheapo triggers. and i'm a cusser, so i'd be shooting with a model. the flashes would stop. then i'd be messing with them, turning them all off and on and troubleshooting everything...meanwhile i'm dropping f-bombs, mother f-bombs, gd-bombs, you name it. now i can gladly say my shoots have been cuss free.

Thanks AdamW..... :)
I should have redone that one but it looked fine on the camera...should have checked the histogram for that shot but I still haven't started doing that when shooting....

It was kinda odd regarding my triggers....when I used to press the button on the transmitter to test it, it used to work fine i.e flash used to go off, but when taking the picture when in the same place, the flash wouldn't get triggered. Also I kinda realized that line of sight was required half the time with them. Never happened before when I've tested them at home so I really think it was something to do with the machinery. But I really would like to upgrade to those E-TTL ones...wish I had the money for them cause I did realize that a 580EX II would never have been able to trigger a 430EX in that first shot and many others.....

I don't cuss luckily and I don't get frustrated fast with my equipment yet (though I'm surely getting annoyed with my 400D LCD, several OOF shots from the shoot  I can feel a temptation for a 50D rising again!!!)

I just got my 430exII last week. I think I'll hold off on OCF for a few months, if that's possible :p

The ones I'm going to get are the CTR-301 P from eBay. According to a lot of people, they're very reliable. $40 for 1 transmitter and 2 receivers.

Don't bother with OCF unless you really need to cause honestly it was fun trying to figure out how to use the flash on camera in situations where off camera was needed like when I did food shots for a coffee shop....I messed up but did well enough to get paid.. ;)

The 430EX is an amazing flash for everyday use, perfect size and not too heavy....so enjoy it!!! :)

Are you still looking for a cheap manual flash? I've been reading up on the Yongnuo YN460.

You're welcome....

I am....basically got two receivers so just want to try it out...but I'm also tempted to get a 580EX II.....I suppose it depends on how things go with a few shoots in the pipeline....
