I was taking some continuous shots with my Ixus 500 (S500) at 1600 x 1200 (Fine) to test the FPS rate at high speed when I heard a "POP" sound and the outer lens barrel's rim dented inwards. The picture I've included is NOT my own camera - Just to show where the dent appeared.

In a separate incident around a month back, I wasn't holding my Ixus 500 properly and it slipped out of my hands (at waist level) and fell. I quickly bent down and caught it in time just inches before it hit the ground. Lucky for me - If it hit the ground, it would've probably been smashed to bits. I inspected the camera for any damages and none here - none there - none over here - and at the top of the camera, a slight gap between the front-back border.

It probably separated while falling as my hands are so many times softer compared to the ground. I know it can be reconnected by unscrewing the back and bottom screws but I'm afraid that something else that may void the warranty might happen (Attempting to fix the camera and spoiling it yourself sort of thing).

So here I am, both the lens barrel rim and top gap have not been fixed. I was wondering whether the warrenty would cover both the damages? The camera is still under warranty but I'm not sure whether Canon will fix them for me?
