Hi there,

I currently own a Panasonic DMC-LX3 P&S camera that I bought after reading dcresource's review. I also have a Panasonic DMC-FX150 P&S which I use when I need something more compact and that really do fit in my jeans' pocket.

While I am extremely satisfied with the DMC-LX3's image quality (the DMC-FX150 does also a good job IMHO though it has some overbrightness problems), I am considering getting a complimentary camera that has more telephoto power with excellent portrait and live concert (night, mainly Jazz, love B&W) capabilities. It must be well-built/solid.

Here are my answers to the questionnaire. Thanks in advance for your help!

Budget: up to 900 USD.

Size: Doesn't really matter.

Features: 9M or better, Ultrazoom, Image quality 8 or better, At least aperture/shutter-speed priority if not full manual controls.

General Usage: Shooting distant objects (trumpet during a live concert for example), portraits, live Jazz concerts pictures, low light conditions, no big prints.

I forgot to mention that I very rarely if never use flash.
TIA

If you want big zoom, low light, and flash you need a DSLR. Everything else is going to be a disappointment.

You're usually not permitted to bring large cameras into concert venues. So you're left with compact ultrazooms that can fit into a pocket. None will give you the low light picture quality of a DSLR, though all of them can take good pictures if there is sufficient light. Here are some of them - Panasonic ZS1, ZS3, TZ5, Canon SX200is, SX110is, Sony H20, Samsung HZ10w, Olympus 9000.
