Dear Friends,

I have a new Panasonic DMC-ZS3 and am wondering whether one can hook it up some way to an external hard drive and record videos to that drive rather than to a memory card.

Any ideas?

Regards to all,

may be very difficult. The hard drive needs power and needs to write the files in a file structure, which i feel the camera may not be
able to do.
better use a large SDRAM, may be 8GB and write the video to compuer disk using a USb card reader.
As such it is not advisable to use the USb port of the camera for any direct connections.

I understand that some digital still cameras have a "remote capture" facility (such as the Canon 'S' series?) bit I don't think any Panasonics have this feature.

In my travels I came across this site:

SarmSoft WebCam (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/WebCam/SarmSoft-WebCam.shtml)

but I have absolutely no idea how — or even if — it'll work!

Good luck. :)
