I am looking for a good overall camera that takes nice clear shots. Current items that annoy me with my camera.... takes pictures too slow, focuses and then refocuses and finally shoots, by then the subject has moved. Takes a long time between shots for flash to recharge. Images from a distance wind up blurry and small. Have seen a few cameras that do rapid shooting, taking multiple shots at a time... that would be nice to capture my baby but not neccessary.
Budget
* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible. Would like to stay around $200, but willing to go up to $300
Size
* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?
Would rather be on the smaller/ lighter side as would use when travelling but does not have to be ultra compact
Features
How many megapixels will suffice for you? at least 8
* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify) would like to have a higher zoom as I get frustrated when trying to take pics of my daughter's school activities from a distance and she is really tiny in the picture or when I travel and try to zoom in on a site
* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10) 9 or 10... isn't that the reason for taking pictures is to get a good one?
Do you care for manual controls? doesn't matter, generally use auto setting, but sometimes use other (action setting)

* What will you generally use the camera for? pictures of active 1 1/2 year old and 13 year old, travel, family shots
* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? not likely
