hello,
Actually how is the burst modes? In the dmc_zs3, dmc_tz5, DMC-TZ4K, etc...

I see in the features:

dmc_zs3
# Hi-speed burst: Camera can shoot at up to 10 frames/second, though at low resolutions and high sensitivities
# Flash burst: Camera can take up to 5 flash photos in rapid succession, again at low resolution / high sensitivity

dmc_tz5
High speed burst mode shoots at 6 fps (though at 2.5MP or less)

But how does this actually perform? For someone that has never experienced a camera with this before.
Would I be happy with any of these? Like taking burst pictures of sports, cars, etc...

thanks for any help

Well, as they say, low resolution and high sensitivity. The lower res. is because point-and-shoot cameras don't have the processing power to burst full res. shots (at any kind of speed that is). And the high sensitivity is a downside as well, because P&S sensors don't do well generally over 400 ISO. Also, the buffer will fill up quickly and take some time to clear (check into to how long if you can find it). It's worth a try, but 2.5 MP images will be good only for 4x6 prints, maybe 5x7.

The TZ5K (Get the TZ5K not TZ5, better video quality) is the best of the ones listed. The only thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't have much in the way of manual controls.

You can't ask for much from P&S cameras in terms of speed unfortunately. There is one recent model that is targeted to people who want better burst rates, the Casio Exilim EX-FH20 (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/casio/exilim_fh20-review/), which does 40 FPS @ 7MP, but it's really pricey ($600, you could get an entry level DSLR for that price) and suffers from typical P&S problems.

EDIT: Take a look at the the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_sx10-review/) as well, it can burst at full res. @ 1.4 FPS, slow, but unlimited (no waiting for the buffer).

thanks,
thinking about this. I wonder if the burst is just a modified move capture.

Actually, movies are just modified still captures. :)

The black one takes better video?

Scratch that, I was looking at the difference from the TZ4, the K just indicates color. :o

This thread (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40482) elucidates the differences.
