I like the 3rd one the best. That door gets a lot of action. Not too crazy about the 2nd one. Maybe I'd like it more in some better light.

Thanks, Lukas. I'm still captivated by the signs. The church looked cooler in the viewfinder (or my imagination), I guess. I showed the doorway shot to one of my daughters. She's friends with a lot of the muralist/graf scene in the Bay Area, and she's a really good photographer (she likes film.) She says to me, "Dad, I took a picture of that doorway a couple of years ago." Now I remember. It's a B&W. It's better than mine.

adam, the biggest issue i have with these is the lighting. its got that colourless noon kinda feel to it. i'm not the biggest fan of sign pics either so i cant really comment on the subject matter.

Rooz, that's 'cause I was there with some students in the middle of the day.

This a high school class you teach Adam? I vaguely remember a thread about it awhile back.

Yeah, Lukas, it's the same class I taught last year. Here's the thread where I explain it:

My fellow teacher is retiring at the end of this year, so next year it will be just me and 20 kids (instead of two teachers and 40 kids.) I also have to start thinking of different places to go in SF--I'm tired of the same spots.

I've posted much of the stuff I did this year in various forums over the last month, but here's some of the kids' work that I liked best:

I wish my school had something like that. Photography and camping in Yosemite sounds pretty good to me.

They went to the Pinnacles this year; Yosemite is a bit too far. Also this year: Driver's Ed, Oceanography, Artists' Studio, Musical Theater, Film Analysis, Visiting Bay Area Colleges, Farm, Europe, Japan, and more. Costs range from $1500 for overseas trips (we provide fundraising opportunities) to free. Mine was $14 for BART and Muni fares.

It's a pretty awesome school. One of the most diverse in California. The kids are great and I really like working there.

I went to Berkeley High School in the late 1970s. There were 3400 students. I majored in punk rock and drugs, with minors in not living up to my potential and poor decision making.

Now I'm some kind of role model. Go figure.
