I would like to say that I am so impressed with everyone's talents. Thanks to this forum I have been practicing shooting totally manual and my project has been the moon using much advice here.

First serious attempt: (too bright?)

Another from tonight. I dropped the ISO to a L1.0. Does this look too dark for anyone?
BTW, all moon pics were only cropped, nothing else.

nice shots. i assume you;re using the tamron 200-500 ? not the sharpest lens around so stop it down to f8 or f11 to improve your sharpness and adjust shutter accordingly. i assume you are using a tripod ? if not, you need to make sure you do to get the crispest image possible.

Problem with moon shots is that.... they all look the same. :)

Lukas, Thanks for your feedback!!

I know...I know...moon pics...blah-blah! LOL! As soon as I absorb the advice I am getting and get RAVE reviews I'm done with the moon for awhile! (until a lunar eclipse)

Smiles!

Thanks ROOZ! Yup, that was the lens I used. Yes I used a tripod. I didn't use timer on first pic but did on the others for extra VR. I will use your advice on f-stop when weather clears. We have been having some serious rain in the northeast! Thanks again...I hope I nail it next time!

Thanks Fast1! I'm always unsure of night time photography and definitely underconfident. After going over previous threads I felt confident enought to try it out! I must admit, the first series were white blobs! LOL!

tim11...I hear ya!
