Panasonic DMC FZ28

I am very interested in the subject camera. It is available in black and silver with silver typically priced about $30 lower than black. Is there something I need to understand about this? Is the silver being discontinued or just not popular? Does the silver finish not wear well?

I believe Panasonic is reliable and will support their product but this price difference has me confused.

I've seen the same thing in NY. The black finish is priced higher than the silver finish. Mechanically, the cameras are identical.

Maybe black is more popular therefore priced higher? It certainly looks better.
