I want to get a new camera in the next week or so. I've been looking at the Panasonic Lumix TZ5 and am now interested in learning more about the Olympus Stylus 9000. Would like to know of other comparable cameras to consider.
Budget: Up to $350, but of course would prefer to spend less.
Features: Compact, wide angle, 10X zoom, Image Stabilization. Don't need manual controls.
Megapixels: not important to me.
Use: I want a basic point and shoot. Don't need for any particular venue as photos are primarily for general family use for outdoor activities, inside get togethers ( parties, school events, etc.), and travel.
We don't usually make big prints.
I need to replace my nikon coolpix 5900 which has broken. The one feature I want to improve upon is the zoom.
Also, I prefer a camera that is more ergonomically held -- I find the tiny slim cameras with small controls problematic. On the other hand, I want to carry it in my purse, or perhaps a large jacket pocket, without adding too much weight.
Advice?
