they have a big front window there and part of the reason for this lens was I didn't want to hurry to find a flash or use the camera flash (I don't like it ..the sb400 with defuser works great for my needs)...but I do have a couple of pictures where I had to much light or something went wrong
Aperature Mode...Shutter 1/13...Iso 2.8 ..please C + C for me and remember I'd love to not use a flash if possible ..or and the WB was changed to Incandescent...U know the little light bulb

It didn't work because of the three dots in the URL.
Open the picture in Flickr, go to "all sizes" and then copy and paste the URL from the "grab the url" box at the bottom of the page.

neither do i phil. lol

please be clear in what your asking. the exif is also blocked on the image so hard to tell what settings. the photo exposure doesn't look too bad. its a bit warm in WB but otherwise, nothing glaringly wrong that i can see.

Okay lets start again ....I posted the original question in the 35mm thread ...and copy pasted here cause I'm a dork and wasn't getting any response there and not thinking it wouldn't make sense here....I bought my 35mm lens cause it's good for low light and I didn't want to be seaching for the sb400 or use the one on the camera ...thinking that the lens would be good anywhere ...but when I took the following picture(lots of lights) it came out really yellow and bright ..I added shadow to it and it's not terrible now but not where I'd like it to be ...I used the following setting for it ...Aperature Mode@2.8...Shutter 1/13...ISO 400 and use WB incandescent ..please C + C for me and remember I'd love to not use a flash if possible but it may have been the simplest choise here ....I need some C+C here ...I'm just starting to really get into this and any help would be great....sorry about the first post ..

Try Auto WB next time.
Overall I have found that 99% of the time it does a better job than the camera preset values.

There is nothing wrong with this except the
White balance is too warm I think. If in doubt shoot raw and adjust afterwards. Otherwise it's a good shot

I'd love to not use a flash if possible

Ive seen many people here say they dont like flash and swear it off, but then once they use an SB speedlight, they feel silly for ever feeling that way.

As for the WB, shoot RAW and fix to your liking in PP.

I second that. To be honest I was put off for a while with using flash...

i got a SB600 and nothing can beat it.

However, for mood and use of existing lighting, you cannot use it.
if for example you are trying to make use of subtle lighting or some nice shadows then you wont want to use the flash.

Flickr displays what it gets. The program you are using to edit the files is stripping the Exif out when it saves the modified files.

no need for a good program. this was simply a WB problem. if you shot in auto WB you would have ben fine. ViewNX is free and you cn change WB and some other basic stuff in there. (and it allows you to shoot raw and then convert to JPEG).

wtahc your shutter speed especially. thats very slow. i cant believe how still they were in the photo.

Rooz the Shutter speed was camera controlled cause I had it on Aperture Control ...so jump up to what ...800? I need to start to get braver and use Manual I guess ....just call me chicken...indoors is tricky ...it was evening and light coming from outside and light inside ....I had some great shots from the window with the light coming in ...I got off to the side of the window the kids turned out great ....
