I noticed today that Engadget had two stories that mentioned D5000 previews. They plugged every site except this one (they already have a love affair with Photographyblog, which drives me nuts). I've tried submitting links in the past, to no avail.
If you guys can help spread the word about our reviews on other blogs and sites, that would be super!
Thanks,
Jeff

I always spread the words about Dcresource to anyone who asks me about camera/photography since the day I discovered your site.

Yes I do too, it's the only site I recommend to anyone. I've never heard of Engadget by the way!

Jeff,
Thank goodness, I'm not imagining things: In the past, I've submitted tips to Engadget about any preview/review whenever DCRP releases. However, we all know what ends up w/. While I'm not downright saying they're being arrogant (but rather ignorant), I couldn't help to think that many ppl out there AREN'T taking DCRP seriously regardless of our efforts to spread the words for you.
Also, we need to understand the demographics over there at Engadget: I dare to claim that many are equally ignorant (of course, I'm one of the rare exception). Check out some of their reports: catchy phrases, pictures that would raise some eyebrows... surely it's "designed" to get attention from readers. Then when I check the comments, not uncommon to find many have got bias, prejudice, uninformed. It looks like to me, not many readers are care about the RELEVANT details/substance behind the "gadgets" but they're just blindly worshiping the "materialistic coolness", engaging in pointless spec. arm-race & dising everything w/ "uncool" cosmetic.
Don't get me wrong, I like Engadget (as well as some other photography-related sites like Digital Photography Review, Popular Photography, CameraLabs.com, Imaging Resource, Photography Bay, The Luminous Landscape, LetsGoDigital, and Steve's Digicams). And, I love to learn about new products coming out. Just that I wonder how many Engadget readers would understand the whole point of buying a digital camera: is it a tool to help us to shoot what we want/cherish, or a toy to show off/impress the onlookers?
So, Jeff, don't be let down by Engadget, Gizmodo, etc not giving DCRP a plug - especially if I'm getting right about their demographics (i.e. NOT necessarily care about what a camera could/couldn't help them to shoot). I'd suggest we spread the words to the "right" demographics: those who would like to learn, to be properly-informed & more importantly want to take good photos. How about soliciting other fellow photography bloggers to plug DCRP in their links section? Just my opinion.

Phill D,
Hehehe, we can't be ignorant either! Engadget is quite popular in the bloggosphere of consumer electronics.

Yes I'm sure it is Howi, I just looked them up out of curiosity. I'ts a flashy site & looks well put together but I didn't like the pop-ups & numerous ads. Jeff there is obviously an element of competition here so I'm not suprised they ignored you.

I would like to help, this site means more to me for reviews than any other.

I guess the best way you can help is to tip off other blogs and forums when an article is posted, or if there's an interesting thread in the forums!

I think people can post links in facebook as well...whenever a new review comes out.
I suppose other social sites have similar options....
Also could you get us a banner link to embedd into places like blogs, websites, where ever possible...a basic jpeg one and a funky flash one....
