Yes, you can reuse your memory card many times. Current cards should work through 10's of thousands of write and erase cycles.

Obviously, you have some problem with your camera or card. It could be anything from a total failure of one or the other to something simple like an improperly inserted card or some mis-setting of the camera's control options.

All digital cameras have some method of deleting images. Most allow the deletion of individual images as well as a total erasure, usually labeled as "reformat", of the card. Some also allow tagging multiple selected images and then deleting the selection as a group. If reading the manual doesn't explain it well enough try reposting a question to the forum section specific to your brand camera.

You can also delete the images on the card by mounting the card on a desktop or notebook computer with the aid of a card reader. This allows you to copy the images to the computer's hard drive and/or burn them to a CD for storage.

While your memory card is in the camera, look for some sort of symbol either on the camera or in one of the menus that looks like a trash can, thats the button/item you need to select in order to delete your photos.

It would really help if we knew what camera you are using. There are plenty of good reviews of most cameras online (including this site's) that contain details on the menu options and icons. These might help you determine what you are 'missing'.
