I was planning to get the panasonic FZ20 but now considering a dslr. My family thinks I should get the Canon Rebel- I have a film rebel., but no other lenses. My brother had the D-20 which I used last weekend. After doing a lot of reading on this site as well as others I am leaning toward the Pentax ist DS. I like the size and I have a few aa chargers as well and batterys from my old Sony P-52. I was wondering how you are liking yours. I'm concerned from my reading that the shot to shot delay when using a flash could take up to 4.2. Have you found it to actually take that long? Any other pros or cons would be very helpful.
Thank you for your time.

I swiched from the FZ20 to the ist DS myself and am much happier with the ist DS, but I guess it all depends on yor requirements.
Internal or external flash? external it depends on the flash, internal I just tried and it was more like 2 seconds.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I was talking about internal flash. Did you find your pana fz20 was around the same (2 sec.) Also what external flash would you recommend? Also as for redeye is on better than the other with just using the pop-up flash? Even with post processing I am sometimes unable to remove it. Also between the pana and the pentax which would you say requires less post processing?

jeisner, what made you switch? And did you go with the kit lens or something else (considering you are giving up the FZ20's long zoom)?
