View Full Version : How "frozen" should VR be?

Hi,

I have read a lot about those lens with VR/IS features, and that when viewing through the viewfinder, the focus seems to be frozen for those good ones.

Now what is meant by frozen?

I just got a D90 with the kit lens, which has VR, and when I just point and focus on some simple object around me, I can see it still moves, rather than "frozen" on the viewfinder. Is there something wrong with my VR? Or is this term frozen exagerrated?

Many Thanks

What do your pictures look like? As long as you're shaking VR will be compensating.

VR wont ever completely freeze your frame. Its purpose is to counter as much camera shake as possible. This means in most cases itll keep your shot steady enough to use use slower shutter speeds but it doesnt work miracles.

More likely it's misunderstood.

As you've probably gathered from the above it's not "frozen" it's "a steadier image" for 1/50th of a second or so.
