So i lost my Cyber-shot DSC-T30 a week or two ago. GREAT camera! so I was bummed about it. but now im moving on. I've been looking into replacing it but i need a point and shoot with a godo vide mode and can utilize the optical zoom in that mode.

I went to best buy and it seems like alot of camera makers have been opting out of adding such a great feature for some odd reason. I just thought i would get a new sony and be done. but I honestly dont like any of them.

there either to lacking of features or have too many features that i dont want. case and point, i find the new touch screen user interface strangely complex and frustrating to use. and not nearly as easy to maneuver through as the prior UI. plus i think they got rid of the timer on the battery for some odd reason

enough sony bashing, i need good suggestions/recommendations: so far im looking at:
buying a used Sony T30
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T200
Canon PowerShot SD870 IS Digital ELPH
CASIO EXILIM EX-V8
Casio exilim z750

For those compacts that do zoom in video, the rate of the zoom covers a wide range from model to model. Some are just as quick as in the camera's still mode. Others will feature a slower zoom rate for video. The digital zoom on the new Nikon S630 is nice and slow in video mode. I really prefer that to a quick zoom. Being digital this stays in focus, but is limited to about 2X.
