View Full Version : An interesting way to present photos
I guess I'm a Luddite when it comes to some aspects of the online world. During the week I was asked if I would allow some of my photos from a charity ride to be used in an e-book.
I was blown away by the result and I can now see all sorts of possibilities for using photos that I had never thought of before.
I must say I did not produce the book linked to below but I know that it was done using an iMac and iPhoto.
The link to the e-book is here (http://content.yudu.com/Library/A16j21/RidefortheHills/).
The link to the web site where you can create this and many other things for free is here (http://www.yudu.com).
BTW. Make sure that you sound is on for the e-book so you can hear the page turning noises. :)

the tiled effect is a photoshop plugin...very easy to do...just hit run and photoshop does the rest...have used it once (but went overboard...pardon the pun...see here:

I'll be at mine (thread hijack?), and southerners know how to do tea I assure you. Nice and sweet.
The tile effect is interesting, but I think it's too distracting from the main image.

I'll be at mine, too!
I like the e-book and it has me thinking--that's always a good thing.

Richard, looks cool.
Great feeling people want to use your photos, as well they should.
You have some real nice shots.
Also told you weeks ago to keep an eye out for the 15th,
This crass, selfish, arrogant, derisive and dismissive American will be there!
took me a while to digest this entirely. i must say i'm very impressed with the idea and the result. looks very impressive. the ability to add text and a story behind it all is ingenious. not too sure abut the one photo divided into a gazillion though. i think maybe for a couple of shots but it gets a bit tiresome after a while...especially when its brken up intoo many pieces.
The actual setting up of the files (the page layouts and photo effects) is done by the document creator before they are uploaded so if you just want a plain white background with words and photos then that is all you create.
I must admit the broken up photos did get a bit tiresome but I didn't create the document so I really had no control in that respect.
As I said the DPR one advantage is that photos are visible but they are not photos as such (like here or on Flickr) so it would be much harder for them to be ripped off.
As I see it the concept would be great from something like a sports club end of season presentation or a family get together momento (Uncle Joe's 80th birthday, that sort of thing). It could even be useful as a tool for a pro photographer as a way of presenting proofs to a client.
Overall it's just another option for people to use.
