i had a friend which i haven't seen for a good couple of years visiting me and i just have bought a 430 to have as a slave, and here we were, too bad we were in my tiny apartment in Lausanne were i live during the week.

the set up was 5d2 with 24-70 580 as a master (turned off) and 430 as slave

please any critiques will be more than welcome!

thanks Laydros, actually it is the closest she ever been to a photoshoot, and as till now i focused on landscape, travel and streetphotography, but in the summer i will cover the wedding of a friend of mine, i thouhgt i shoud try to put in practice everything i read about portraits, lights, wedding etc. to see where am i standing

i think it helps a lot if you're good friend of your model, make stupid jokes, make them laugh, still i have to wok a lot in sharing the vision and had to play a lot till i got the desired output from the flash

Good stuff Dorin, now were you bouncing these flash shots or what kind of set up did you have? I'm going to be experimenting with flash sometime soon and am going to need all the help i can get!

She has a crazy smile too. love it in #5.

thanks Cory!
the 430 with a diffuser, at about 2m height, being pointed downwards. i wanted to use ratios but it ain't a good idea for the eyes of your model if the distance is less than a meter to them, so i ended up using only the slave and manual mode, felt more confident like this, sometimes the ettl is more complicating things...or actually i should start to understand it properly

I like your style, but the hair all over the face is a detractor, IMHO.

"thank you master Jedi" ;) because of her dark hair i opted for b&w, unfortunately she has a very voluminous hair, being all over, but indeed, you're right, didn't realize it till now actually...

n1 is my favorite of the set.

Im not a fan of the rest, im not saying they are bad pictures they just don't tickle me right.

I agree, #1 is the best. When I look at a portrait, I want to connect with the eyes, and the eyes in most of these pictures are obscured by hair or sunglasses. #1 is great though, it reminds me of old hollywood glamour.
