Apparently in default mode the TZ7 does not really deliver vibrant colours... Does putting the colour mode in vivid solve that problem?

A good question and one I was wondering myself. Can the color be enhanced without detriment to something else? Also, on the night shot which clearly came out yellow (as Jeff admits) is there a way around that. The review sort of indicated there was but it wasn't clear to me.

I think the whole 'Mickey' shot looks overexposed. All the colours are undersaturated (on my calibrated monitor) and the image seems to have a very light mauve cast overall.
Also, it's missed some of the finer detail, (such as the thumb line on Mickey's right fist). At 100% there's also a lot of fine "grain" appearing in all sorts of places, particularly on his cloak. And... his "black" parts aren't even black; they're a sort of very dark grey!
I've compared Jeff's review shot of Mickey with the Sony W-150, and my little camera has produced (to my eye, at least) a more overall acceptable image. Granted, the Sony has an overall light brown cast, and a few jaggies on contrasting edges, but at more than TWICE the cost of the Sony, the TZ7 should do a far better job — particularly under controlled studio settings.
Although I've owned a Panasonic in the past, I certainly won't be racing out to buy the TZ7 (unless Panasonic make a firmware upgrade available... ha ha).
Cheers :)
