There is an option on the database page to show discontinued models. If you check that option many of the models listed appear.

I'm not quite sure exactly which "database" you're referring to, but it's obviously not Jeff's.

All the Kodaks you quote are listed in the database here on DCResources, and there's even a review of the Kodak Z712 IS HERE (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/kodak/z712is-review/index.shtml).

The first three on your list are all long-discontinued (2 to 3 years) models anyway, and of very little interest to most forum members. Why waste file storage with info that nobody wants to read?

Cheers :)

New, old, dicontinued, missing is missing if you want the camera or not. Two that you say are discontinued are not, three that you say have been
long-discontinued were sold on KODAKs site as little as a few months ago. Now if this is something you rather not read why do you waste the space to write a reply?

Some of the Kodak cameras don't have any data for viewfinder, which may be confusing the search mechanism. Also, your search attributes exclude a lot of the cameras you are looking for. For example, the Z612 shows "SD, MMC" as the storage type, while your search was looking for "SD/SDHC" which won't match. Change your storage type to "SD" and much more show up.

All the cameras are in the database. Some old camera seem to be missing the view finder field, but that is true of all brands. If you think that some cameras were moved to the discontinued group too early I'm sure you can ask Jeff. Otherwise the data base and the search mechanism is working just fine. As far as I can tell, you are complaining about a problem that doesn't exist. It has nothing to do with Kodak, it's just the way the software works.

Is there anything wrong with the way this search works:
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/cameraList.php?search=1&manSearch=7&resSearch=3&lcdSearch=3&storageSearch=4&priceSearch=0&cameraTypeSearch=1&zoomSearch=4&lcdTypeSearch=1&batterySearch=2&popSearch=Y&submit.x=33&submit.y=7

Z712IS => only has 7MP result => will not show up in your search
Z812IS => only has 8MP result => will not show up in your search
Z1012IS => I don't see this one in the database
Z1015IS => 15x zoom result => will not show up in your search

reccomendation : don't put in so many search criteria, especially really new options such as HD video, as this will cut many cameras out of your search results.

You know the names of the cameras and that they are Kodak. When I suggested not putting in so many search criteria, I meant cutting it. You still have a whopping 8(minimum) search criteria in the above searches. One wrong spec, or missing from the database, and you are out of luck.

If you just had search criteria of "Kodak" and "show discontinued models", every single one of your cameras would have been listed. Then you could have figured out why your searches were coming up with "sorry, no results". It seems to me that you are trying to configure searches with that result, or as David puts it "you're just being willfully ignorant".

I like that phrase... "willfully ignorant". :D

Actually, it's more a case of people (in general) not having any knowledge about how databases are configured, and even less idea about searching them effectively.

Inserting too many search parameters is a very common mistake. As you've suggested, most people should start with only a couple of fields, and work their way up, and thereby narrowing their selection (of results).

Cheers :)

First, you might want to learn how to use the quote function, it makes it much easier to read posts.

There may be incorrect information in the introduction date or some other search criteria, but to say

is just incorrect.

Jeff has a forum to for people to point out improvements/suggestions/corrections in layout/reviews/news items/information. It is the very first forum on the main forums page here (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/).

You obviously know how to start a thread, maybe you could point out these items here (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2) and then they would probably get corrected????

Edit: Or at the very least, Jeff would explain the differences in information. His replies to posts within this forum are usually quite prompt.

Do you mean nice that Jeff has a method to rectify problems/inconsistencies with the site,

or nice that you do not really want these problems/inconsistencies you have pointed out to actually be rectified,
