I have a 40d DSLR, but I'm using an older version of Photoshop which does not recognize the Raw files from this camera. I've been using the DNG converter to first convert the files to DNG so I can then view them.

It occured to me that maybe I could use the software which came with my camera, but it seems I've misplaced the disk.

Does anyone know where I can download the Canon version of a raw file viewer for the 40d, or some recommendations for free or inexpensive raw file software?

regards, David.

I'm not familiar with Canon DSLR but I believe Canon has to have something to view its RAW files. If you google for Canon RAW reviewer then I'm sure there will be many answers and links. If no Canon users respond this thread try posting similar question in Canon DSLR forum then Canon owners will answer according to their experience.

Digital Photo Professional or ZoomBrowser EX.

DPP is the one that handles the raw files, zoombrowser helps see previews of them and choose which to edit and stuff.

If you google it, you will most likely find a link, i know a few sites kept links for this particular case. (Losing the cd)

If you can, try to find the whole stuff maybe on the canon site, because you can shoot live from your computer/laptop with the 40D for some cool effects, and i mean that stuff came free with your camera... so uh, why not use it or at least have it if you ever need it : P

I use irfanview with the appropriate plugin to view my RAW files. It's not sophisticated and does not allow full size viewing, but it will show you your images with more pixels than a computer monitor has. It's fast, takes little processing power, and its free.
