8800 USERS ...VR On ?

Do you leave the VR ON all of the time ? is there any disadvantages of doing so ? just curious . thanks

I leave it on all the time. Took several pictures with the zoom and found it to be a major plus!

You'd be interested in that I took about a dozen pictures with the 8800 on a tripod. The pictures looked crappy. A quick check of the owner's manual told me to turn off the vibration reduction while on the tripod. Seems our natural "shake" balances the VR in the lens. Leaving on a stationary tripod causes the VR to vibrate, thus blurring the picture. Interesting?! :rolleyes:

Turn Vibration reduction off on the tripod stationary position, but any handheld shots shood be done with VR on. I've taken several shots with VR on and Off on a tripod and the look much sharper and clearer with VR off. Handheld is a different story though....VR on for any handheld shot can make some great pictures if you have a steady hand, which come close to tripod clarity.....thats if u have a steady hand with VR on.
