just bought my second panasonic lumix. this one does not allow transcend 16gb card. others on the net have same problem with other brands. card does not work with the first camera also. panasonic tech support will not help me. haven't seen any other camera with this problem.

That's because Panasonic want you to pay 'em $89 for one of their own Panasonic cards!

It is not impossible to get a bad card......I would try it in other cameras.....
I do not suppose you have been able to format the card it in another camera.
And you do not say what the other camera is ...perhaps it does not accept SDHC cards, which I hope is what the new card is, if it is over 3 years old it may not be SDHC compatible

I heard about many devices that work with 8GB SDHC cards but refuse to work with 16GB SDHC cards and that might be the explanation.
My TZ5 works flawlessly with Panasonic's own 12GB SDHC card.

What was the source of that card?
I read somewhere that many of the memory cards on ebay are low grade, with a counterfeit first-tier label added.
Something here isn't SDHC compliant, either the camera (not likely) or else that card.
