Sorry to post another one of these, but as a skiier, this is the best 5D mkII video I've seen yet....

All shot with the 15mm fish....

that is quite something.

I wonder how they kept stuff focused, and how well the camera was protected, i read a nylon bag, but i saw a good amount of snow hit the lens at one point.

i'd imagine fishes and ultra wides would come in handy the most since you can set the focus and pretty much leave it...at least for action shots anyway.

very cool video!

I think we need a 5DMK2 video thread :D

nice vid, I thought those POS cameras didn't handle the elements well? Makes you wonder how those trekkers on that Antarctica trip were handling their cameras...

If i remember reading correctly, one of the theorys was that the failures were due to the battery grip accumulating water and then leaking it into the contacts. Looking at the battery grips design from canon, this is possible and somewhat suprising that it doesn't happen more often.

Perhaps a slight change for the 5Dm2 made it even more likely ?

Wow. Really amazing. He used a modified monopod to stabilize the camera so it's semi-handheld, but it's really incredible he held it so steady.

i dont think the video itself is revolutionary. thats no different than you can do with a good video camera. i tell you one thing for sure though...that bloke has balls of steel.

Part of me wants to try it... although I'd be afraid to see what happens if I fell on something icy.

I wish we had power days like that here in New England. Reminds me of the Warren Miller movies that I used to watch when I was really hard core skier. Damn I'm getting old.

Well, it isn't a thread here, but there is site with a huge collection of 5D2 videos. I'd post a link, but since I'm the owner and the forum rules state that i can't plug my own website, so PM me if you're interested in the url.
