Hi everyone,
I want to buy a new camera but I can not any decide between A95 and S1 IS.
A95 is generally good. I know that S1 is better from A95 as 10X optical zoom, image stabilization. But 3.1 MP. Is it a little bit problem?
Or, must we buy a camera greater than 3.1 MP?
Which camera should I choose?
Thanks for your helping me..
(Execuse me for my very poor English...)

Hello,
I was doing the research 3 months ago just like you
go to a store and look at both.
how will print them ??? larger than 8x10 or smaller
3 meg is fine!!
I have the S1 - the camera is GREAT !!!
Set to Program mode - increase sharpness - set all setting to the best
and lower the iso to 50
The pictures will look great!!
The zoom is awesome and the movie mode is PERFECT!!!
check them out for yourself..
The A95 is a little smaller camera , more megs..
For me the optical zoom less than 4x opt is not enough
3 meg pictures look great on paper and in the screen
i have taken about 200 or 300 pics so far
for the most part- very nice-- indoor low light is ok( just ok )
everyhing else is nice - -the movie mode is a bonus
hope this helps
look at them 1st in a store and then compare....

It all depends on what kinds of photos you are taking and what you will do with them. Will you just be needing small prints, or will you be doing a lot of cropping?
The A95 is a great camera also. I use this camera a lot. However, the 3x zoom is not enough for me - I like to zoom in close. I've been asking the same question of whether 3 MP is enough, and unless you want to do a lot of cropping or print photos bigger than 8x10, 3 MP sounds like enough.
P.S. Your English is fine!

Hello roxbury29,
Thank you for your comments.
But, what is importance of AF point? As I know A95 has 9 AF points and S1 has 1 points, A95 has more shooting modes than S1. Are they a serious disadvantage?
(And I know every machine has some negatives)
thanks...

Hello EAP,
Thank you for your comments about the machines and
Especially many thanks for your compliment to my English. (I must explain that a dictionary is in my hand.)
Probably I will ruin 350 dollars and I will buy a S1.
hope you nice days..

Hi,
either choice - you will probably have no problem getting nice pics
I have not had problems with my canon s1 - focusing
the modes work good
Usually i use the custom mode
I set it to-- iso 50 / best quality / sharpness to highest level
and indoors i just let the auto flash when needed
outdoor and normal light no problems at all
you need about a 512 G memory card
and you will be set!!
good luck!
