I happen to work for a company that is currently in the process of liquidating. This company sells quite a few digital cameras and DSLRs, and I have been keeping any eye on the quantities of a few Canon's, and how far their prices have dropped in comparison to how much they cost the company and what they retail for elsewhere. For instance, to buy just the Canon 50D body from bhphotovideo.com, you would pay $1200. At the moment, this same body with a 28-135mm "kit" lens is selling for 5% below company cost at $1280. So although you may never use this rather slow lens that has an awkward focal length.... You're getting the lens for eighty bucks. My suggestion is to go to your nearest local Circuit City and see what cameras they have left...
