I just bought new Canon Powershot A75 and im little confused with the all the shooting mode. My question are whats the difference between M and Auto MODE. Could u tell me which mode do i need use for shooting outside during night time and day time.
do i always need to use the AUTO MODE for shooting or i can use the SWITCH MODE??

First off, you should know that the replacement for the A75 is on it way in the next two weeks. See the posts for the A510.
M is Manual Mode where you can make a lot of camera adjustments. (shutter speed, f stop, flash output).
In Auto Mode the camera does all the thinking for you.
Sometimes this is good, but not always.
I have a A95 and use the P Program Mode.
I can set the ISO speed to 50 for sunny shots outside, and have the Focus set to center, not AiAf.
If you plan on using a flash for nigh shooting, then Auto would be Ok, or P mode with ISO at 50 or 100.
If you don't want to use the flash, then use Tv mode where
you turn the flash off and select a longer shutter speed.
Best thing to do is try it all out and see what works best for you.
