Camera: 400D
Lens: Canon 28mm 2.8FD reverse mounted
Focal Length: 28mm
Shutter: 1/200
Aperture: f/16
ISO: 200
Hot Shoe Mounted 430ex with home made diffuser and shot out in the Resort's garden. Hand held, coz i didn't carry a tripod, and thats real dew:)
This is a 'reverse macro panorama' stitched from six 10mp photos that i shot with the reverse mounted canon 28mm FD lens on my 400D. This setup provides a 2:1 macro magnification. The original file size of the stitched image came up to 41.8mp:eek:
You can check out a larger version here (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/rx100/IMG_7884medium.jpg)
Thanks for Looking! C & C welcome:)

If it was reverse mounted, how did you control the aperture?

Aren't the FD lens fully manual? So she would have ring to turn by hand to set the aperture I think.
Very cool photo!

Yes, FD lens are fully manual and have an aperture ring. I have a Canon 50mm FD that's been sitting in my drawer for so long. You just inspired me to give it another try Viky. :)

Thanks for the compliments guys! Really appreciate it. Thanks for Lookin:):)

The FD Lenses are fully manual. They have an aperture ring. Set the aperture to your desired position. Then check focus in the viewfinder by moving the camera back and forth(yes this is how you need to focus, the AF or even the manual focus ring does not work)... during this time the lens remains wide open and provides you a bright viewfinder for easy focus checking. Once you have achieved focus, now push this little metal lever sticking out in the front of the lens with your pinky finger.. this stops down the lens to the set aperture.. then press the shutter button to capture the shot. Simple:p

You must try this Flip. You'll be amazed at the results u can achieve:)

You must try this fais! Being the resident pano expert and not forgetting that proper sigma 1:1 macro lens, I'm sure you can get some amazing results:)
what does your homemade diffuser look like?
Believe me, you wouldn't want to see it... it looks horrible:eek: I use this only with the 28mm reverse mounted coz the setup focuses at 1" from the front of the lens element. When mounted on the hot shoe, the flash is too high up and even when using the inbuilt diffuser panel, it doen not direct enough light down there. So, I've cut a 90' portion from a translucent milk gallon and taped it to the flash head. Then mounted some tissue paper with a rubber band. This send a lot more light down where its needed.
It was inspired from this (http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/3707/dpp4007qs0.jpg) contraption that i came across on another forum.

I really didn't have to spend that much time on processing this one as PTGui did the stitching for me:)
Here are two crops- first a 30% and then the 100%

If i understand you, you have pictured 6 photos ?
Did you stick photos together like you do in panorama or it is other way ...
I dont anderstand you exactly how did you do that...
Can you show us those 6 photos, how do they look like. That i can imagine how you did that ...
And by the way, photo is fantastic ...
thx

Yes, I clicked 6photos in total and covered the bud, part by part in six different photos. Then i stitched them together with a panorama stitching software (PTgui).
Here's a snapshot from PTGui... hope this clarifies your query:)
Ans thanks mate.. glad u liked it:D

Wow... This is crazzy...
Can you combine photos in more rows.
For example : The numbers show pictures
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
in this case you'd probably have to combine rows seperately..
1-4-7 , 2-5-8, 3-6-9
and then at the end you'd combine those three you got from previous combining...
147-258-369
Have you tried that yet.
Or maybe two rows would be enough for start... I must try that ...
I must get my self a tripod ...

Yes, a $10 reversing ring adapter for canon EOS mount bought off ebay. Similar to this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Macro-Reverse-Reversing-Adapter-Ring-52mm-for-CANON-EOS_W0QQitemZ270305295749QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLens_A ccessories?hash=item270305295749&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1318):)
