I just bought another 4GB CF extreme III card yesterday for $33. I remember buying the same card exactly one year back for $82. I love the price drop but I hate the loss of quality. The new card is lighter and tackier. I can literally snap it into two. Honestly I wouldn't mind spending $80 on a card just to have that peace of mind that the card is put together well...but this is making me wonder how reliable the cheaper one will be cause till now my memory cards haven't given me any problem....has anyone else noticed this and has it been a problem for anyone???

(left card is the old one in the picture)

Looks legit to me but if you got it on eBay it could be fake.

Got it off a legit local seller....bought the old one at the same place....
Best part is I can't even return it and try my hand at the costlier Lexar card....stupid, no return policy of this place....

That sucks. At least they're legit. I don't notice a difference in the build of any of my cards though, and I have multiple brands.

So you have paid just over 1/3 the price that you paid 12 months ago.
Where do you think the price reductions come from? Sandisk is not Santa Claus.

I agree with K1W1, but in a nicer way. =) Manufacturers will always strive to cut costs so you, the consumer, can and will buy their product. Often times this is a win-win situation for everyone, because as products become lighter and better designed, the manufacturing plants can maximize their efficiency. I wouldn't say you lost quality... When you're reviewing your pictures on your computer you can't be an unhappy customer, because hey, all your pictures are in one piece and on your computer. It would be different if lighter designs yielded corruption in your files, but I don't think that's on the upswing...
