40d & 50d owners....i have a request.

if any of you don't mind, i'd really like to see a decent comparison(preferably shots of an actual person in low light) of the 40d RAW, 50d RAW, and 50d sRAW1 at ISO 3200 and 6400 and 12800 in the same setting if you don't mind. 7MP is not a compromise by any means and from what i've read the sRAW1 of the 50d is comparable to the 40d's ISO 3200. even if you'd just post some raws for me to download and do my own comparisons that would be great.

Try this review. (http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EOS-50D-Digital-SLR-Camera-Review.aspx) The Digital Picture usual does an exceptional job at the reviews, and testing. This review has comparisons between the 40D and the 50D throughout the ISO range.

I've never owned a 40D, but the conclusions I've come to (and are in the review) is that the 40D and 50D have about the same visible noise. But the 50D does it with double the resolution. That being said. ISO 12800, is more a gimic than useful.

thanks zoinac, but i'm really trying to get a comparison on the 7MP sRAW at ISO 6400 and the 40d at 3200. i'm really tempted to sell my 30d and use some tax return to pick up a 50d. but at the same time, i'm really looking for another sportbike. damn money. i guess i'll keep searching...maybe i'll actually log in to potn and check the wedding forum.

It's an interesting comparison, the 50S looks to be about the same noise wise as the 40D

what i'm trying to find is a comparison of the sraw 7MP setting. from what i've read it supposedly has significantly less noise than the full 15MP raw. i'm sure it has more to do with being sized down than just being better for noise, but i was just hoping someone could post an example.

sraw1 really is just a resized raw, it doesn't have its own special processing to make it have less noise. i had a feeling that was the case, just wanted to check.

i still want the 50d though, the ability to adjust focus for specific lenses is pretty sweet!
