The Dec 08 issue of Consumer Reports their ranking of the best places to buy electronics on-line:
1. B&H
Crutchfield
Amazon
Costco
5. Buydig
Newegg
Sony
J&R
Abe's of Maine
10. Tigerdirect
I have heard Adorama is good so am surprised it is not on the list. I don't like the sound of this Tigerdirect policy:
Credit / Debit Card Authorizations
An authorization on a credit or debit card is a hold against your banks credit card spending limit.

So am I!

That's not a Tigerdirect policy. It's just a statement of fact regarding how credit card authorizations work.
If something goes wrong, most credit card issuers' customer service lines will administratively remove holds that are interfering with other purchases.

It is indeed - but if there is a concern or a problem with an order from Adorama, please, never hesitate to contact me directly: helen.oster@adoramacamera.com.
There are a lot of photo sharing and equipment websites and blogs out there - and only me to check them! I'd rather receive several notifications about the same problem than risk missing somehing that needs following up.
Sincerely
