I got the camera for christmas and love it... however, on a/s/m mode, something seriously odd happens. If I turn on auto bracket and take a photo, then it makes the noise to take one or two photos, then the lens moves in and out, like I'm turning on and off the camera several times quickly (I'm not :p), and all recent photo's get erased, though some I took a few days ago are still there. This doesn't happen if I use program or intelligent auto....

I think it's something to do with shutter speed, as if I keep it at 1/5 then this doesn't happen. In fact, it only seems to do it at faster shutter speeds and with auto bracket on. Also, it doesn't always do it..... any ideas?

iso 200, macro mode, antishake mode 1, autofocus 1 area, burst off, flash off, auto white balance, picture size 10M, F3.3, shutter 1/250, auto bracket 2/3. Think that's everything....

Thanks!

Sorry, but it's difficult to figure out what's going on — with such a bizarre set of symptoms!

I'd be taking it back to the store where you bought it as a first priority, and see if they can work out if it's malfunctioning (or you're doing something wrong with its setup).

If it continues to malfunction, and they can't get it to work, then the store will have to replace it (with a new camera) under warranty, as it's then classed as a DOA — "dead-on-arrival".

And don't let them talk you into "returning it for repair"!

Cheers :)

Quick update, its doing it more often now, even on P mode :(. Sending it back, going to buy another, hopefully the replacement will work!

Thanks for your post, Beowulff.

Another update, turns out I was wrong- dodgy battery. Swapped to the stock alkalines, blasted out 10 photo's on burst mode. hmmm... swapped back to my rechargeables, camera gave up on photo 6 or so. Swapped one of the batteries out, took 60 photo's, and chucked out the useless cell

I do love AA, but I wish I spent a little bit more to get some eneloops a couple of years back... paying for it now!
