Hi,

I am designing a catalogue however the photos have a background, for
example the pictures are of shoes but i can see the table the shoe is
sitting on and the background behind the shoe, is there a way to cut
the shoes out in Photoshop so the background is removed?

Thanks

Yes... You need to retake the photos on a plain background. I use a chroma-key blue background for that kind of stuff.

I also use white or black backgrounds - depending on what's required.

Rhys, can't he use the freehand or magnet select tool to select the shoes, then invert the selection and delete? He apparently has photoshop and AFAIK it has that feature.
Or would he need to create a new layer with the new selection (everything except the shoes), then fill it with a color of his choice?

Yes but it gets a nicer result if the magic wand is used against a plain background.

There are several ways of doing this in PS. It'll help if you post an example.
