What? A new SX10 review and no comments? Lets get some discussion going.
I was hoping for more comparisons with the competition... Panny28, Nikon P80, Oly 570, Fuji 2000.

to me the SX10 IS is a pretty solid ultrazoom

I can imagine Canon wanted to make it more technically impressive while keeping the quality around the S5 IS (Battery life is quite damn amazing)

I know its needless wishing but I was hoping for lower noise levels and a higher resolution screen

It's a great camera, but in view of this (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42087), I have to say that the lens holder (whatever the proper term is) is kind of 'loose' as in there is space to allow water and dust to go in. Dust easily gets stuck between the lens and the holder, especially noticeable if you wipe the dust off with a piece of cloth - pieces of dust becomes lodged there.

I was an S3 user and never noticed the problem. Two weeks into using the SX10 I've had that cleaner mishap and dust is getting into the lens as well. :(

Good review, good camera. I've had my SX10 for two months with daily use. I guess I could dream for better low light capability. I'm happy with it, and have no real regrets.

I upgraded from an s3 and am happy I upgraded but really think the manual focus dial is a real step backward. It is much harder to manually focus than with my S3. It takes way too many turns to do anything, and I find it very hard not to choose (macro/iso/or continuous choices) while I turn.

I've just found a problem with my new SX10:

Problem: playing back video on my computer, I found it to be jerky. I never had a problem with my S2, even at maximum size. Buried in the manual, I found that a CPU of at least 1.66 GHz is required for good playback. (Also, a limitation on supported operating systems for the Canon software, but I'm OK on that.) My computer is only 1.25 GHz, and playback is very jerky. I 'm not ready to buy a new computer just for good playback of the videos! I'm seriously thinking of returning the camera, but I'll try it out a bit more, since it has a lot of features I like.

Nevermind.

I found my answer elsewhere on here.
