Although this test is hardly definitive, the results are surprising...
i've lost count the number of these tests i've seen. i've also lost count how many different camers "win" the test.

Usually the one with the largest advertising commitment to the organisation doing the testing. :D:D

I looked up the search engine for electronics and, WEIRD, found that Canon's 5DMkII sells 200 Euros more than Nikon's D700!!! Not only Canon is lagging with new cameras but pricing policy in Europe must be absent. Why I am not surprised to see more people carrying Nikon DSLR around their necks than Canons in last two years???
I am still curious about head to head comparison but to date D700 sounds like a better camera.

While travelling in Europe (on youth tours and walking around in cities), I have found that consumer range Nikon dSLRs were quite a bit more common than the equivalent Canon counterparts.
Haven't see many of the mid-range Canons or Nikons (e.g. 40D, 50D, D300, D200) but the Canon's at this level are more common. Maybe because I recognize the red band around their L-series lenses?
The pro cameras are almost all Canons. But the D3 and D700 have not been out for long. Someone I met in London youth hostel had a 5D, and I have only seen one D2X. The 6-inch by 6-inch bodies are glaringly obvious.

I saw a bunch of pro-ish Nikons in Europe this summer. At least as many Nikons as Canons, i thought. What I didn't see were Olympuses. I must have been the only person in Europe with an Olympus, it seemed :(

When I was in Switzerland last year - I saw a plethora of XTi/400D cameras with the 18-55mm EF-S kit lens. Much more common than the D40/x at that time.
I hardly saw any pro-sumer Nikons, Canons, or any other brand around - mainly entry level DSLRs. I did see one Sony a100 near Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich. No Pentaxes or Olys.
Back in Seattle, one sees plenty of pro-sumer cameras. D200/300, 40D, some A700s and K10Ds, with pretty nice lenses (not kit lenses). I call it the Microsoft programmer with significant disposable income effect.

Are you sure it's not the Boeing engineer with significant disposable income effect? ;)

I found that test to be very interesting. It looks like Canon is quicker on the draw.
However I would like to see a more difficult test performed where the 3D tracking could be enabled. I am pretty much sold on the 3D tracking. I think highly of 3D tracking.
FWIW, at last nights Oscar De La Hoya Vs. Manny Pacquiao boxing match, the ringside photographers mostly had Nikons.

Golden Boy? More like pretty boy. Has he done anything recently to merit respect for his boxing abilities, heart and character?

Possibly not. The 787 Dreamliner is late enough as it is; I doubt a Boeing engineer has much time for shooting these days.
But yeah, the "techie with a nice DSLR" phenomenon is a frequent sight here.

Could it be some vacationers from Vancouver carrying their dSLRs too?

You do see a lot of those. Over the summer they were buying everything they could get their hands on in Seattle retail-wise, thanks to the weak USD at the time.
