Just thought I'd see if I could put a photo on here.
Sadly, after advice - the image will be brutally reduced in quality
but I was advised to keep the size & filesize right down (>40kb is that true?)
It was 20th Dec 04 - we had an afternoon and evening along the South Bank of the Thames - the colour of the sky caught my eye - had to make it quick as the rest of my family don't have the patience to wait when I stop for photos.
Hope it comes out alright ~ is there any way of submitting them any better quality??
Geoff
It would be nice to see the original sized picture indeed. What were your Aperture and Shutter Speed settings?

Sorry - as I said - It was very much rushed and the orig sd card has been wiped now - but as I remeber: Apperture was somewhere between 2.8 & 3.2 for max light - and shutter was around1/4 sec all at 100asa. I quickly balanced the camera on the bridge - pressed down on it to keep it steady and pressed the shutter. As you have probably worked out - it's the Oly C-740 UZ which I am quite pleased with even though it's obly 3.2 mpx. The resolution on the orig was at 3.2 normal - and it's 608,445kb or 0.6Mb
Do you know how large we are allowed to go with file size & picture size on here??
Thanks or replying

Yup. That's a gem. The kind of shot that we usually miss, for one reason or the other.
Well done! :)

Thanks for the Aperture / Shutter speed reply.
For the picture size, I have no idea what is the maximum size thats allowed here.

Jeff would appreciate it if posted shots remain under 40K. A better way to post is via a web hosting gallery like smugmug.com. There are also free hosting sites that allow varrying degrees of memory usage.
Here is an example of smugmug (my small gallery). If you decide to use smugmug, I would appreciate using my name as a reference as I get a credit.

A very nice view from Waterloo Bridge.
I've done the other side looking at the London Eye and HOP, but not the Gherkin and St Pauls.
From across the road on the north side.

Paul,
Is this the 410 or the N90 version? I'll make that squirel a star yet. ;)

This one was my DX6490, I have loads taken up there with various Kodak cameras.
I must be addicted to them.

Thanks for the tip - I will hold fire for the moment as I have no idea how much I will use this - so to subscribe an (unkown) amount would not be wise for me - at least not just yet. I am, so far, a casual user and I may dip in and dip out of these forums depending on how busy life is (& it get's busy!!) While I can I am dipping IN. (even now as I type I am being pestered to get OFF the PC!!) i was going to add another pic.... later!
I will keep a note of your suggestion and if things seem to be working that way - I'll give it a try.
Thanks again
Geoff
I have my own website but at the moment it's a programming website. In the fullness of time, perhaps it will change.
Perhaps also I shall set up another website, selling photos. I'm paying £30 per year for 100mb of webspace with 2gb bandwidth.
