View Full Version : Slow forum response.
Is anybody else noticing very slow response on the forum at the moment.
Often when I try to open threads I click on the thread title and wait, and wait and sometimes even give up waiting.
This happens to me both here at work and at home so it's not related to a specific PC or ISP. I'm wondering if the poor Servers that host the forum are suffering from overwork.

Have you tried running a Trace Route (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traceroute)? There could be a regional network link down. Try accessing dcresource via a proxy; if it runs normally, then it's probably a downed network link. I had a similar problem once and it turned out that a link was down in Chicago.

I had this happening quite a bit as well on one computer, but not another. It either doesn't load or it stalls part way through with a blank gray page. I had been wondering if my popup, adware or phishing filters were blocking something that's attempting to load. Oddly when it stalls I also have difficulty subsequently opening any other site.
What with viruses, spam, malware, adware etc, most of the internet bandwidth is taken up with rubbish. I'm not surprised it grinds to a halt occasionally.

I've been noticing some very long delays at times K1W1, eg 20 seconds to open this thread. This site in particular.
My PC is relatively malware free and on ADSL2.
I couldn't get into my Yahoo email a couple of hours ago. The connection was that horribly slow.

Not sure what to tell you guys... it's running very well from my perspective. Just cleaned up the database and updated to the latest version to see if that will help.

I think that's exactly what to tell us Jeff.
ie
All is well at your end and any delay is in that long pipe across the pacific ocean floor.
