Does anyone know if Sony plans to make an underwater housing for this camera? And if there are any 3rd party vendors that makes an underwater casing for this camera?
Thanks

Ikelite does offer a underwater case for the V1 not not the W1.

I agree with Nick. Before posting I did some research, and found that Ikelite have one for the Cyber Shot DSC-V1 but not the W1. It goes for around $500 dollars

Bill, I looked out and about for a case - there appears to be nothing specific for the W1 yet, nor any plans. However there are the 'reinforced expensive water baggy " things that sort of fit a wide variety of cameras, although it's not really meant to be heavily, or anywhere near so underwater.

Nick:

I saw those online also, but I am very skeptical about those "bag" looking things. Maybe I should just wait, and perhaps "they" will come out with something.

Thanks

The bag looking things ;) are great for the rain, dust, sand, spray, and dirt. However, I would not trust one underwater. I'm sure someone will make something soon.

Hello Bill,

I like many of you have been looking for an underwater housing for my recently purchased DSC-W1 camera. Well I'm happy to say that Sony has just recently released the MPK-WA for the DSC-W1, DSC-W5, and DSC-W7. It is available through the Sony website for $199 and I was able to get a 20% discount by registering on their site.
I don't work for Sony and I'm not here to push their product on anyone. This is just an informational post since I know many of us have been waiting for a reasonably priced housing to be introduced for this camera.

Regards,
Juan
