View Full Version : Movie mode to be added into the Camera A-Z database?
So with HD movie mode becoming a new battle ground for digital cameras, I'm thinking that it should be added to the list
like
codec and highest resolution/frame rate
and so you can pick HD only or Motion J-PEG only etc etc

Dunno really.
I'm a great believer in an absolute minimal number of variables in databases (purely in consideration of its search options) so I guess I'd probably give this a thumbs down. Sorry.
From my point of view only, with any/all of the digital cameras I've bought, its video capabilities — resolution, frame rate, zoom, aspect ratio etc — have been at the very bottom of my check list. I buy a digital camera primarily for its still capabilities, and regard any movie mode as purely an adjunct that I'll probably only seldom (if at all) use.
I think if I were to be looking for high class movie gear, I'd probably be buying a dedicated, hard-drive HD camcorder. It'd be a bit like buying one of these, and worrying about its still image capture capabilities.
I've consigned video, face and smile detection, red-eye correction, stereo sound, D-lighting, artificial horizon, etc etc to my "ignore" file.
Cheers :)
I agree completely. I wish they all would focus on improving the sensors, lenses and handling rather than adding more glitter and gadgets. I don't even want to start on scene modes. I didn't need them in film days, I don't want them now.
