When do you think there will be a price drop on the Nikon D90? I know it's early, but I really like that camera over a Rebel XSI, but the cost difference is just too high. So I'm waiting for that and using my P&S until it comes down. Anyone have a guess? Thanksgiving sales coming up? or after Christmas?

Usually just after you cave in and buy one!

Totally!

Please note that the price of Nikon D90 DX 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX Nikkor Zoom Lens has decreased from $1,199.95 to $1,153.99 since you placed it in your Shopping Cart. Items in your cart will always reflect the most recent price displayed on their product detail pages.

Just copied that off Amazon. My mom paid $1,229 and we thought it was a great price. I saw them in Costco yesterday for $1,399 and that included the 55-200 vr zoom lens. IMHO, if you can wait, check out the black Friday ads, and if you can really hold out, then order closer to the holidays. I have a feeling with the awful economy, they will only go lower. (I had no patience and couldn't wait.)

Some may already know, but amazon and B&H dropped the price of the D90 a few days ago.

Looks like it's already happening:

Looks like it is $899 for body only and $1199 for 18-105 kit at B&H and Amazon is just a bit lower per mugsisme.

Hmm, wonder if it'll be cheaper on black friday or just before christmas....

Here in Australia one of the major computer suppliers has today put their prices UP 25% across the board, all products , all options.
I suspect the camera manufacturers will not ne too far behind although I don't anticipate 25% on cameras as the margins are much greater.

I'm considering the D90 or the D300 for an upgrade but it's definitely going to be a tough choice this holiday. My feeling says D300 is a well worth upgrade from my D80.

I looked at a pricing chart for the D40 and another camera I think and there were big drops after the new year, they try to hold the price for Christmas because everyone wants one then drop it in Jan-Feb because everyone that wanted one probably got it for Christmas. This is just my guess though.

With the current global economy we're liable to and in some instances already are seeing pre 'Black Friday' price cuts. :D
