What do you think of this deal?

The story is too long and convoluted, but suffice it to say that I can purchase a very- little -used D80 and 35-130mm (?) lens for $525 US from my neighbor. She got a D90 and her dealer will give her the $525 as trade in towards the D90 and an 18-200 VR lens. She offered it to me for the same amount first before she takes the trade-in. I'd have to sell my D40 and 18-55mm kit lens to do it. The only problem is my hubby doesn't see the extra outlay of cash as a necessity (which of course, it isn't). Deal or no deal - what do you think?

Are you happy with the D40? If so, why change? Save the extra cash for a lens.

Are you looking for extra features or just buying because it's cheap?
If you're having to sell one of your lenses you'd want to know that the new one is better.

I'd stick with the cam you've got until you "need to upgrade". But as it's your decision it's hardly a democracy.

keep the d40 for now. save your pennies and by mid next year the d90 price will be significantly cheaper so you cna go down that route. i'm guessing the lens is a 18-135mm aswell which is quite sharp but has some other issues.
