I need a little help. Is Adorama a good place to buy a DSLR? Adorama sounds like a familiar name, but I am not sure if it is a good familiar or a bad familiar.

Adorma or B&H are the big players for online ordering, both well established.

I'll vouch for Adorama. They are highly reputable both online and off.

Adorama is ok. I wouldn't call them great like B&H though. The one and only time I made a call to them, it sounded like they were in a kitchen.

If you are lucky enough to live in a town that has a good mom and pop camera store, you might pay a little more in initial price, and have to pay sales tax but chances are you will have a continuing resource for advice, loaners, possibly in-house repairs and a place where pro-photographers hang out and offer advice. When I bought my D90 6 weeks ago, few of the mail order stores were offering discounts so I went to a local shop and got very good personal service and even had a chance to take different models out of the store to try out. Help keep these sources of information and service in business, you might really need them.
